GECCO2 Scores Top Marks with the 'Greenest' University
Highlighting both the sustainable and environmental credentials of Ground Source and Geothermal Systems, GECCO, has secured a heating and cooling project at Nottingham Trent University, which has been named the UK's most environmentally friendly university in 'The People & Planet Green League,' which is published by The Times Higher Education supplement.
Contributing to the University's continued green success, GECCO will install a 55kW 'reversible' system - which means it can cool as well as provide heat for the University's city site - using a deep closed-loop system with boreholes up to 100 metres. Although the Sherwood sandstone geology is a particularly hard material, which can make the deep bore holes something of a challenge, it should present little obstacle to GECCO having considerable experience on many similar projects.
Commenting on the project, Matt Love (MD of GECCO) said: "Working with Nottingham Trent University is a great project for us to be a part of, and even more special as its number one spot in the People and Planet Green League highlights the role Ground Source Heating and Cooling Systems can play in contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment."
Matt continued: "Renewable energy is the ultimate goal, and Ground Source and Geothermal Systems, especially the innovative and flexible modern solutions that we specialise in, are now a realistic and affordable option, with genuine 'green' credentials. Their increasing specification in high profile projects proves this."
