GECCO Complete Brentwood School Installation

GECCO have completed the installation of the Geo-Exchange for the new Sixth Form building at Brentwood School, Essex, ahead of programme.

The scheme, to provide 100kW heating and cooling, consists of 15No. boreholes to 130m on a site which provided a series of unique challenges to the team.  The Geo-Exchange had to be installed on a very tight site with close proximity to existing structures, and drilling had to be conducted carefully to avoid damage.

The Geo-Exchange itself was designed following the successful completion of a Thermal Response Test to ascertain the exact thermal conductivity of the ground conditions.  This had to be conducted during the half term holiday, so as not to disrupt the students.

GECCO's client, CH Lindsey, helped Brentwood School receive funding for the project under the Low Carbon Buildings Phase 2 initiative.

GECCO will be returning to the site in June to install the plantroom and commission the system.
